Martin Renovations

Twenty years after designing and building our dream house, we decided to come back and do some renovations to update the kitchen, powder room, master bath and converted the old playroom downstairs to a theater/lounge room. We also added a new Brazilian hardwood deck off of that space. Carolyn and I wanted to update the kitchen to something more modern.

The Kitchen features: Flush white cabinets and thin metal pulls, stacked 2x12 marble backsplash tile and stainless base. We contrasted the white with walnut paneling to the peninsula fronts and alcove walls.

The Powder Room: Received a wainscot of figured marble and walnut shelf with LED strip light under . We also added a floating walnut vanity, tall mirror, and hanging pendants.

The Master Bathroom: Received a wall to wall high window to allow natural light in and view out to greenery and sky. We built a much larger marble shower with seat and multifunction showerhead, hand sprayer and shooters to sooth the back.

The perimeter of the ceiling is lit with a continuous, recessed led tape light. Two walls were lined with shiplap red oak. A specially designed linen cabinet was built to replace the old linen closet. The vanity floats to make the space feel bigger. A separate built-in vanity was also added.

The Theater/Lounge Room: Received a built-in TV recess and shelf for components.

A new built-in walnut bar with Silestone counter and a custom backsplash of glass backed by silver leaf. LED strip lights light the mirror-backed glass shelf above.

The center ceiling is recessed with an art deco touch of stepped walnut molding and recessed lighting.
