Adirondack House
This house was designed for a childhood friend for her family vacation compound on Lake Champlain in upstate New York. The predominant style of the area is Adirondack.
The style is unpretentious, relaxed, rustic and woodsy and features hand crafted stripped pole columns and railings, shingle siding and casement windows.
The plan of the house is a rotated square with a pyramid roof and an open recessed corner.
The rotated sides have gables that face up and down the lake. The open corner has a recessed porch with a wide straight stair to maximize views from the living rm to the lake, unobstructed by railings. There is a detached three car garage with a guest apartment above with views of the lake as well.
